Wandavision Episode Wanda Becomes Scarlet Witch

Jimmy is a charmingly suitable pick for a series about magic (of course, they played Voodoo Child). He was studying card tricks with Scott Lang the last time we saw him, and he's kept that up with some business card sleight of hand. Is it possible that the universe developed a comedy starring two Avengers? Jimmy inquires, and one can't help but wonder what was going on inside Westview before these men picked up the signal. Were there any radio sitcom episodes set in the 1940s? Was this originally intended to be live theatre? (And what happens in town after the credits have rolled?)

It's a bizarre section of the dialogue that doesn't appear to play much of a role in the tale, but it reminded us of something WandaVision director Matt Shakman remarked to us after seeing the first three episodes.

When asked how the series will finish in its final episode, Shakman exclusively told RadioTimes.com, "This is absolutely a program about learning more about Wanda Maximoff, learning more about the Scarlet Witch, learning more about not just where she's been, but where she's heading to."

Colin McCormick updated this page on November 30th, 2021: Wanda Maximoff has progressed from a second-tier hero to maybe the most compelling character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. WandaVision was a deep dive into the character, and her incredible story will continue in the highly anticipated sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Looking back on her journey through the many MCU projects, she has many more memorable comments that relate to all of the aspects of her character that make Wanda Maximoff such an engaging figure to follow. [Editor's note: This article contains WandaVision spoilers to episode 8.]

If you could reimagine This Is Your Life as This Is Your Trauma, you could say that episode 8, Previously On, was also a tribute to classic television. Wanda relived the tragedies that led to her current inner turmoil under the duress of Agatha Harkness, beginning with the day her parents died, continuing with how she obtained her powers from the Mind Stone in a Hydra laboratory, and concluding with her growing close to, and then losing, the Vision.
