This development, however, was not well received by all of the dwarves. Many dwarves see the new flight-based society as a betrayal of traditional dwarven beliefs. Many dwarf clans feel that "the ancient ways were superior," and that the dwarves should struggle to reclaim their fallen subterranean cities. They mock the "sky dwarves," proudly referring to themselves as "stone dwarves" or "real dwarves," and fight relentlessly to restore dwarven civilization to its origins. A recurring rumor among the stone dwarves is that a hidden line of portals known as the Deep Road exists undiscovered by their foes, and that if they could uncover and secure these portals, they might use their ancestral magics to re-unite the dwarven cities. The "sky dwarves," on their part, rejoice in the freedom that flying affords them and look down on their more conservative counterparts. It remains to be seen if this schism in their culture will develop or be healed.

These are printer-friendly maps for the Dwarven Excavation, a level 1 dungeon in the D&D Essentials Kit campaign Dragon of Icespire Peak. You may get them for free by clicking the button below. Each high-resolution bundle comes with a pre-prepared PDF file for fast and easy printing.
